New for students – Substance

We have a new group starting for students at Pip ‘n’ Jay, starting Sunday 4 November.

It’s called “Substance”, and it will meet every Sunday at 4pm in Starbucks on Bristol Bridge. It will be a place where we look at how we can become all that God has called us to be, an environment of deep spirited friendship, and we will stand with each other as we walk out the Way of Jesus.

We will offer acceptance and challenge to each other…………… becoming a people of integrity and Substance!!

Tell your student friends, and see you at Starbucks – 4pm, Sunday 4 November.

Pulse meetings – a big change!

We have some exciting news about future Pulse gatherings. Up to now we have been using Pip ‘n’ Jay on Saturday nights, which has been fun, but separate from the rest of the church. We have always wanted to be growing at the heart of our church community, and the next Pulse meeting will be a chance to try out how we can do that.

Instead of a Saturday meeting, our next Pulse gathering will be Sunday 11 November, 6.30pm at Pip ‘n’ Jay – that’s right, we’re running the Sunday evening service!

We have an exciting guest speaker, and there will be lots of opportunity both to receive support and ministry, and to give service to others in Pip ‘n’ Jay. More news and details to follow – meanwhile, mark 11 November in your diary as a date to meet up and grow with the church body, and be part of what God is doing for Bristol at Pip ‘n’ Jay.

Saturday, Wonderful Saturday

Hello everyone!

So this saturday there is a day of fun in the Parish of Pip ‘n’ Jay (the Dings). There’ll be music, sports, workshops and body art!! To add to this Pip ‘n’ Jay are putting on a prayer tent! I’m going with my wife and i’d be deighted to see you there!!

Secondly, given that Sunday will see the annual migration of Pip ‘n’ Jayers to Shepton Mallett for New Wine i thought we’d do something a little more low key for the Pulse. So we’re gonna have a wine and cheese party at mine, 7.30 onwards, Saturday night! Bring strong cheese, full bodied red wine and your friends!!

So just to be clear. There is nothing happening at the Church Saturday night, but at 7.30pm at 43 Tyler st, there is some serious action going down!

People and picnics this weekend

We’re having a Hub social gathering of two halves this Saturday, starting with football, rounders and picnicking on Clifton Downs at 4pm – meet by the water tower. Drinks and snacks provided, bring yourself and friends! (PLEASE NOTE! If it’s pelting rain, skip this bit and go straight to the next…)

At 6.30 (whatever the weather) we’ll be meeting at Stark Bar, 168 Whiteladies Road. Bring friends, and some £s for food and drink. More info from Matt Thomson.

On Sunday, you’re also welcome to join us with the rest of Pip n Jay at a lunchtime picnic in the Oxford Street park in The Dings, part of our church parish just across the dual carriageway. We should be starting around 12.30 and meeting up with local residents too (of which Helen and I are the latest – we’re just moving in, thank you God!). There will be lots of people heading over from Pip n Jay after the Sunday morning service, so just bring some stuff to eat and join us!

It was great to see so many people on Saturday night, and we had a good time talking about generosity and seeing what happened when Bern tried giving out free cash in the city centre.

FREE MONEY!

If you weren’t in the Centre of Bristol today, you missed a rare opportunity to get some FREE money! Bern wanted to see how easy (or difficult) it would be to give out cash, no strings attached, for free. It sounds mad, and you might think this would be a very expensive lunchtime, but it turns out to be a lot harder than you’d expect. We learned something along the way about generosity too.

Helen filmed the whole thing, so you can see what happened at this Saturday’s Pulse gathering, 6.30pm at Pip n Jay.

Saturdays Pulse and evangelism training

Good day one and all!

Here we are again, the start of a new month and it’s the Pulse Gathering!! Woohooo!Usual place (the Chancel of Pip ‘n’ Jay) and usual time (6.30)! This weeks theme is Generosity in mission! This ties in nicely with the evangelism training day that’s going on from 10.30 – 2.45! It sounds great!

It’s being run by Paul Rush the Diocesan Evangelism advisor, it looks great because:

1) It’s free, the quota covers it!

2) It de-mystifies the difference between evangelism and witnessing.

3) It’s practical and accessible without endless models and theories

4) It gets the church discussing what it believes.

5) It’ll be fun and we’ll new things!

Bring a pack lunch!

The Pip n Jay Vision!

Hello all. Just thought i’d remind everyone that there’ll be an articulation of the Pip n Jay vision this Sunday morning at 11.30. It’ll happen at the end of the normal service and bring a pack lunch so you can stay and chat about over a sandwich!!
